Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Langston Galloway knocked down 6-of-9 from
beyond the arc en route to 26 points to lead the Saint Joseph's Hawks to a
71-59 decision over the George Washington Colonials in an Atlantic 10 bout at
Hagan Arena.
Carl Jones and C.J. Aiken netted 15 and 13 points, respectively, as Saint
Joseph's (15-10, 6-6 A-10) won for the second time in its last three games.
Halil Kanacevic came off the bench and grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with
six assists.
Isaiah Armwood led George Washington (12-13, 6-6) with 14 points. Lasan Kromah
tallied 13 points off the bench and Patricio Garino had 10 points.
Saint Joseph's scored the first 11 points of the game and led 25-6 at the
second media timeout. The Hawks finished the half having hit at a 48.5 percent
clip from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range while holding GW to 39.3
percent from the field. The Hawks struggled with turnovers late in the period
however and led 40-29 at halftime.
The Hawks quickly built their lead back to 16 points on consecutive baskets
from Galloway early in the second period. GW failed to make any of its three
attempts from 3-point distance in the final 20 minutes.
Saint Joseph's outrebounded GW, 39-32, and improved to 34-24 all-time against
the Colonials.
