Norman, OK (Sports Network) - In a Big 12 Conference matchup at the Lloyd
Noble Center, Sam Grooms scored 23 points to lead the Oklahoma Sooners over
the Baylor Bears, 90-76. to earn the season sweep.
Grooms went 15-of-17 from the free-throw line for the Sooners (18-8, 9-5 Big
12), who earned their second consecutive win and fourth in the last five
games. Steven Pledger added 19 points, Romero Osby had 17 points and eight
rebounds, and Je'lon Hornbreak contributed 13 points.
Pierre Jackson scored 28 points with eight assists in a losing effort for
Baylor (16-11, 7-7), which has lost three in a row. Although Jackson had 28
points, he shot just 8-of-23 from the field and 3-of-13 from 3-point range.
Isaiah Austin scored 15 points and Brady Heslip added 11.
After holding Baylor to 25.8 percent shooting in the first half, Oklahoma led
47-21 at the break. The Sooners went on an 18-1 run to end the half.
The Bears shot 46.2 percent and made six 3-pointers in the second half while
outscoring Oklahoma 55-43 but were unable to overcome the huge first half
deficit.
Baylor's poor shooting from distance cost them as the Bears took 31 shots
from 3-point range and made good on just nine.
