Lawrenceville, NJ (Sports Network) - Jonathon Thompson registered 15 points as
the Rider Broncs got past the Charleston Southern Buccaneers, 61-54, in a
BracketBusters duel at Alumni Gymnasium.
Junior Fortunat added 12 points and Daniel Stewart brought down 10 rebounds
for Rider (16-13) which has won five of its last six games.
Arlon Harper had 13 points, Cedrick Bowen chipped in 10 points off the bench
and Paul Gombwer hauled in 10 rebounds for Charleston Southern (16-10) which
had a three-game winning streak put to an end.
In the first half the Broncs managed just nine field goals and hit only
3-of-16 from 3-point range as they trailed 27-24 at the break.
After halftime the Broncs sot 41.7 percent from the field, and held the
Buccaneers to just 22.9 percent shooting, to pull out the win.
Rider held Charleston Southern to just 27.9 percent shooting overall in the
contest.
