Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Shane Richards recorded a team-high 14 points
off the bench as the Manhattan Jaspers held on to defeat the Buffalo Bulls,
65-64, in BracketBuster action at Alumni Arena.
RaShawn Stores also came off the bench to put up 13 points for the Jaspers
(11-16). Michael Alvarado added 11 points and four rebounds as Manhattan won
its fifth of its last six games.
For the Bulls (11-16), Tony Watson recorded a game-high 24 points. Javon
McCrea contributed a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jarryn
Skeet also added a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists as Buffalo
had a three-game winning streak snapped.
In the first half Buffalo was red-hot, making 12-of-18 from the floor
including 6-of-8 from long-range. Manhattan was held to 12-of-26 from the
floor including a mere 2-of-6 beyond the arc, as Buffalo took a 36-33
advantage at the break.
Both teams made nine field goals from the floor in the second. Manhattan made
11-of-12 from the foul-line while Buffalo made a mere 6-of-11. The Jaspers
held the lead for the last 17 minutes of play, forcing the one-point victory.
Manhattan forced 24 turnovers and it dominated bench points, 36-6.
