Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Brett Olson led four teammates in double
figures with 16 points, as the Denver Pioneers downed the Northern Iowa
Panthers, 63-57, as part of BracketBusters weekend at the McLeod Center.
For the Pioneers (18-8), Chris Udofia added 11 points, while Jalen Love and
Chase Hallam each chipped in 11 points. Denver won its seventh straight
contest, matching its longest winning streak of the season.
Seth Tuttle led all scorers with 18 points for the Panthers (17-12), while
Marc Sonnen finished with 12 points.
Denver was hot to start the contest, draining 55.6 percent of its field goal
tries in the first half, including 7-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc, as it
took a 32-25 advantage into intermission. It limited UNI to just 39.1 percent
shooting from the field in the first half.
After the break, the teams shot an identical 45.8 percent (11-of-24) from the
field. UNI got its deficit down to just a single point on several occasions,
but Denver never surrendered its advantage down the stretch as it kept its
winning streak alive.
UNI lost despite outrebounding Denver, 29-20.
