San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Mark Tollefsen netted 18 points as the
San Francisco Dons defeated the Pepperdine Waves, 64-58, in a West Coast
Conference clash at War Memorial Gymnasium.
Cody Doolin added 13 points for USF (13-15, 6-9 WCC), which also received 11
points and six rebounds from Cole Dickerson.
Nikolas Skouen paced Pepperdine (12-15, 4-10) in the scoring column with 19
points while Stacy Davis registered a double-double of 12 points and 13
rebounds. Davis also handed out six assists and Lorne Jackson went 4-of-12
from the field to tally 10 points.
The Waves had an early edge as they jumped out to a 21-10 lead just over 12
minutes after tip-off. USF generated a 17-2 run to go in front by four points
before it took a 27-25 lead into the intermission. The visitors trailed at
halftime despite outscoring the Dons, 11-2, in points off of turnovers in the
opening stanza.
Pepperdine managed to produce another hot start as it began the second half
with a 15-4 run that put it ahead by nine points. The hosts responded with a
15-3 run that gave them the lead for good. The Dons converted 12-of-16 at the
free-throw line and outscored the Waves, 14-4, in the paint in the second half
to collect their second win in a row.
Despite the loss, Pepperdine held a narrow, 39-36 edge in the rebounding
battle. Although the Waves pulled down more boards, USF produced 12 second
chance points to Pepperdine's total of four.
