Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - Not only was the University of Montana football
program the only one from the FCS with two NFL Draft selections this year, but
the Grizzlies also have the most players joining organizations.
The St. Louis Rams selected Montana cornerback Trumaine Johnson in the third
round and the Dallas Cowboys picked linebacker Caleb McSurdy in the seventh
round.
Since the conclusion of the draft, five other Grizzlies have come to terms with
NFL teams and agreed to participate in upcoming mini-camps: place-kicker Brody
McKnight, New York Jets; wide receiver Jabin Sambrano, Indianapolis Colts;
offensive lineman Charles Burton, San Diego Chargers; and offensive lineman Jon
Opperud and cornerback Donny Lisowski, Seattle Seahawks.
Each of the seven players earned a form of Big Sky Conference honors last
season while Montana won a share of the conference title, reached the FCS
national semifinals and posted an 11-3 record.
