Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Former All-SWAC defensive end Marquis Jackson
will play his final collegiate season at Portland State.
Jackson was granted his release from Texas Southern University's program in
the
spring. He was an All-SWAC first-team selection each of the past two seasons.
Last season, the 6-foot-5, 275-pound standout from Northridge, Calif., had 50
tackles and six sacks while also ranking sixth in the SWAC with 18.5 tackles
for loss.
Portland State, a member of the Big Sky Conference, finished 7-4 last season
under second-year coach Nigel Burton. The Vikings will open the 2012 campaign
on Sept. 1 against Carroll College.
