State College, PA (Sports Network) - Penn State has reportedly lost another
player, as kicker/punter Anthony Fera has decided to leave in the wake of the
NCAA's transfer rules following the sanctions against the school from the
Jerry Sandusky scandal.
The Centre Daily Times said Thursday that Fera is heading to the University of
Texas. There was no confirmation from either school, although Fera has been
removed from Penn State's official roster.
Fera averaged 42.0 yards on 64 punts last season and connected on 14-of-17
field goal tries. He was the first player to handle both kicking and punting
duties for Penn State since Chris Bahr in 1975.
The native of Cypress, Texas will be eligible for Texas immediately.
