Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles gave running back
LeSean McCoy a five-year contract extension, locking up one of the NFL's most
potent offensive weapons until 2017.
The Eagles announced the deal Thursday and a press conference was scheduled
for 7:30 p.m. (et).
McCoy set single-season franchise records with 17 rushing touchdowns and 20
overall TDs this past season, rushing for 1,309 yards in 15 games with 315
receiving yards tacked on.
He has broken the 1,000-yard rushing barrier in each of the last two seasons
after gaining 637 as a rookie in 2009.
"Thank u lord for everything because nothing would b possible without u,"
McCoy wrote on Twitter after news of his contract broke. "To the whole eagles
management THANK YOU !!!!"
He has played 46 games for the Eagles, starting 32, and has rushed for 3,026
yards and 28 touchdowns on 635 carries with 166 catches for 1,215 yards and
five more scores.
