San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers announced Friday they
have added running back Jackie Battle and defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin.
Battle, 28, played his first five NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and
is coming off his best year after rushing for 597 yards and two touchdowns on
149 attempts, all career highs.
Before going on injured reserve in December, Battle saw an increased workload
after starting running back Jamaal Charles was lost to a season-ending injury
in Week 2.
Franklin, 31, agreed on a one-year contract after spending last season with
the New Orleans Saints. He had 17 tackles in 16 games, including nine starts.
Franklin has also played for Baltimore and San Francisco in his nine-year
career, compiling 204 tackles and four sacks in 114 games, including 70
starts.
