(SportsNetwork.com) - New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork
underwent a successful procedure Tuesday to repair a torn right Achilles'
tendon he sustained in the team's most recent game.
Wilfork's wife, Bianca, tweeted the news while displaying a photo of her
husband resting comfortably with his right foot in a cast.
The Patriots have yet to publicly disclose the nature of Wilfork's injury,
which occurred during the first quarter of New England's 30-23 victory at
Atlanta this past Sunday. Head coach Bill Belichick did admit on Monday that
the valued veteran would likely be out for an extended period, however.
New England is expected to place Wilfork, a five-time Pro Bowl selection who
has missed only three games over the previous six seasons, on injured reserve
in the coming days.
Wilfork had totaled nine tackles through the season's first four games.
