Bucs cut 14, including K Connor Barth

Tampa, FL-- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers trimmed their roster by 14 on Friday, with eight more cuts to come by 4 pm. Saturday.

The most notable cut was kicker Connor Barth, who missed last season with an injury and had surgery for a torn Achilles tendon. He was due $2 million in salary this season, so dropping his salary will ease the strain on the Bucs' salary cap.

That hands the starting place-kicker job to Patrick Murray, a first-year player out of Fordham. He was a perfect on two field goal attempts during the preseason.

Other veterans released included offensive lineman Jamon Meredith and defensive end Larry English.

Also, the following players were placed on waivers:

DB Marc Anthony

CB Kip Edwards

CB Anthony Gaitor

CB Keith Lewis

LB Nate Askew

LB Ka'Lial Glaud

DE T.J. Fatinikun

T Edawn Coughman

OL Andrew Miller

OL Jeremiah Warren
