Bucs' Jackson and wife co-author children's book

Tampa, Florida -- Deployment can be a tough topic to discuss for military families. It can be especially hard for their kids to understand.

It's a topic Buccaneers' wide receiver Vincent Jackson knows all to well from his youth. Compelling Vincent and his wife Lindsey to co-author their first children's book "Danny Dogtags: Dealing with Deployment."

"When we were doing some research there weren't any books about what we wanted to talk about," said Lindsey. "It seemed like a real natural fit for what were doing in the community."

Friday morning at One Buccaneers Place, Vincent and Lindsey shared the "Danny Dogtags" adventure with children from the Jackson in Action 83 Youth Foundation.

"This is a dream come true," said Vincent.

Almost every child in attendance has dealt with the feelings associated with having a loved one deployed. The hero in the book, Danny, wears a Buccaneers uniform, yet the Jacksons have dedicated their time in the community and with their book to the real heroes in uniform.

"I just want to thank Vincent Jackson for allowing this to happen this is a wonderful opportunity for the military men and women," said Sgt. Christopher Breen.

"This is something near and dear to my heart so it makes sense to me to have the support in this community and especially from my employer is great," said Vincent.

You can purchase the "Danny Dogtags: Dealing with Deployment" book on the Buccaneers.com website and at select Barnes & Nobles in Tampa. The proceeds from the book go to the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation benefiting military families.
