Buccaneers running back Doug Martin will miss the next three weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during the Bucs' game with the Arizona Cardinals.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Martin's MRI results over his Twitter on Wednesday morning.
Martin came up limping in the first half of the Bucs' 40-7 loss to the Cardinals. Charles Sims took over and finished the game with 24 rushing yards on nine attempts and three catches for four yards.
Sims will take Martin's starting role for the next three weeks in a tough stretch of opponents including the home opener against the 1-1 Los Angeles Rams and games against Super Bowl L participants, Denver Broncos (2-0) and Carolina Panthers (1-1).
Fortunately for Martin, the Bucs get a Week 6 bye allowing him to rest the hamstring prior to the Bucs west coast trip October 23 to San Francisco.
