Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Tom Renney will not return as head coach of
the Edmonton Oilers, the team announced Thursday.
Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini said the team opted not to renew the
coach's contract following two seasons at the helm.
Renney and the Oilers finished this past season with a 32-40-10 record for 74
points -- second lowest in the NHL behind only Columbus. They were 25-45-12 in
his first season for a league-low 62 points.
Edmonton was Renney's third NHL coaching stop after stints with the Vancouver
Canucks and New York Rangers.
