Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jonathan Quick made seven saves and the Los
Angeles Kings fought off a New Jersey 5-on-3 to finish the first period of
Game 3 in a scoreless tie with the Devils.
LA leads the Stanley Cup Finals 2-0 after back-to-back 2-1 overtime wins in
New Jersey.
Martin Brodeur made six saves in the first period for the Devils, whose two-
man advantage came late in the period after Mike Richards was whistled for
elbowing and Jeff Carter went off on a four-minute double minor after catching
Adam Henrique in the face with a high stick.
The best chance came from Zach Parise, whose tip from the slot on a Patrik
Elias pass was stopped by Quick.
Moments later, Devils defenseman Marek Zidlicky went off for tripping.
The Kings got a boost from the return of veteran forward Simon Gagne, who was
on the ice for the first time since suffering a concussion Dec. 26 and played
1:44 in the first period.
It's the second career Finals appearance for Gagne, who registered a pair of
goals for the Philadelphia Flyers in their six-game loss to Chicago in 2010.
Game 4 is Wednesday in LA.
