Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Dan Boyle scored the winner in the shootout as
the San Jose Sharks took a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.
With the final shot, Boyle dipped his shoulder then skated to the right before
stuffing the puck past a sprawled-out Devan Dubnyk for the win.
Logan Couture had two goals while Tommy Wingels also scored for the Sharks,
who had dropped six of seven coming in. Antti Niemi posted 24 saves in the
win.
Sam Gagner, Shawn Horcoff and Ryan Jones all lit the lamp for the Oilers, who
had won three of four coming in. Dubnyk stopped 31 shots in the loss.
The Oilers had taken a 3-1 lead 4:07 into the third when Jones stole the puck
behind the net and tucked it in from the right side on a wraparound, but the
Sharks rallied for the next two.
Less than three minutes later on the power play, Couture and Boyle worked the
puck after a scrum in front with Couture's one-timer from the right circle
finding the back of the net.
It was a tie game at the 9:15 mark as Wingels' quick shot from the top of the
left circle off a turnover beat Dubnyk.
Gagner scored the first goal of the game at the 10:47 mark of the first period
while on the power play with a big blast from the left circle, but the Sharks
tied it up with 5:41 to play on Couture's first goal of the game, a stuff in
front of the net.
Edmonton made it a 2-1 game at the 12:07 mark of the second as Nick Schultz
took a lead pass coming out of the penalty box and from the left side he fed
it across the goalmouth where Horcoff shot it in.

San Jose continues its five-game road trip in Minnesota on Saturday ...
Edmonton hosts St. Louis on Saturday ... Couture has nine goals in 11 games
against the Oilers ... San Jose won all three games against Edmonton this
season.
