Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils have brought back
defenseman Marek Zidlicky for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
The team announced Wednesday it has signed the Czech veteran to an undisclosed
contract, which the Bergen Record reported to be for one year.
Zidlicky led all New Jersey blueliners with 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists)
while playing in all 48 games during the lockout-shortened 2013 season, his
first full campaign with the Devils. He was acquired by New Jersey from the
Minnesota Wild just prior to the trade deadline in 2011-12.
The 36-year-old broke into the NHL with Nashville in 2003-04 and has
accumulated 66 goals, 325 points and 544 penalty minutes over nine seasons
with the Predators, Wild and Devils. Zidlicky tallied 12 goals or more in
three of those years.
