Drew Sutton playing for the Boston Red Sox in 2011.
St. Petersburg, Florida -- The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired infielder Drew Sutton from Pittsburgh for a person to be named later or cash considerations.
He is expected to join the Rays for Monday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays, and a corresponding roster move will be made at that time.
Sutton was only with the Pirates for a day; he was traded to Pittsburgh from the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. So far this season the switch-hitter had been at Triple-A Gwinnett, hitting .270 and mostly playing third base.
Sutton has spent parts of three seasons in the major leagues with the Cincinnati Reds (2009-10), Cleveland Indians (2010) and Boston Red Sox (2011).
