Kansas City, KS (Sports Network) - Sporting Kansas City signed forward Jacob
Peterson on Thursday.
Peterson, 25, has nine goals and 10 assists in 138 regular season matches in
Major League Soccer. He was drafted by the Colorado Rapids in 2006, and made
92 appearances for the club. He later played for Toronto FC and the San Jose
Earthquakes.
"Jacob is a player that we feel is going to fit in very well with our team
right away," Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes said. "He's a player
that I've worked with, and we feel his experience from playing a number of
seasons in the League will be valuable for us."
Peterson played for the U.S. at the Under-17 and U-21 levels, but never made
an appearance for the senior team.
"It's an exciting time here," Peterson said. "I want to increase the overall
depth of the team. I think we're all going in the right direction and together
we can achieve a lot this year."
Per club policy, terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.
