Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas announced on Friday that the club has
come to terms with defender Carlos Rodriguez, who will be added to the team
pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
The 21-year-old joins the Hoops from Tauro FC in Panama after making a
positive impression on the team during CONCACAF Champions League play last
season.
Rodriguez appeared in both games between the two teams in group play of the
competition, with Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman tipping the youngster for
good things in MLS.
"We liked what we saw in him during Champions League last year," said Hyndman.
"He's athletic with a good work ethic and he's young at 21 years old. He can
play both left and right side full back and is attack-minded. We were looking
for another player to give us balance and depth in our defense, and I believe
Carlos will do very well in MLS."
In addition to his exploits at the club level, Rodriguez earned his first two
caps for Panama in friendlies last year and is on the roster for the team's
upcoming match with the United States on Wednesday.
