New York, NY (Sports Network) - Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber
issued punishments to Chivas USA and Philadelphia Union coaches, players and
staff after multiple individuals left their respective technical areas during
the 85th minute of their match on April 21.
Union head coach Peter Nowak, who was shown a red card in the match to
automatically collect a one-game suspension, has been suspended one additional
game and fined $5,000 for leaving his team's technical area, entering the field
of play and initiating contact with an opposing player.
Chivas head coach Robin Fraser has been fined $500 for leaving his team's
technical area and crossing midfield.
Both clubs have been fined as well with the Union drawing a $5,000 fine and
Chivas drawing a $2,500 for the behavior of their respective players and staff
members.
