Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - The latest edition of the Cascadia Cup
between Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC certainly didn't lack
intensity, it just was devoid of goals as the two sides played out a 0-0
stalemate at BC Place.
The game didn't really get going until the second half as Seattle's Osvaldo
Alonso had the best chance in a cautious first 45 minutes by rolling a first-
time shot wide from inside the penalty area.
With 10 minutes to play, Jeff Parke nearly opened the scoring when he got his
foot on Christian Tiffert's cross. But Vancouver goalkeeper Brad Knighton
reacted in time to claw the ball away from the net just before it crossed the
goal line.
The Whitecaps then had two good chances just before the final whistle with
Kenny Miller's shot being deflected narrowly wide before Camilo squandered the
best look of the game.
Miller got into the area and flicked on a left-wing cross to an open Camilo at
the back post. However, he rolled his shot wide from six yards, allowing
Seattle to clinch a playoff spot with the point.
