Tampa, Fla. -- Matt Bryant will finally have some competition in training camp. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today have signed kicker Mike Nugent to a one-year contract.
Nugent, who spent the past four seasons with the New York Jets, connected on 75-of-92 field goal attempts (.815) and 83-of-85 extra point attempts during his career for a total of 308 points.
He was a Jets second-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Nugent's 2008 season ended after sustaining an injury in the season opener.
In four seasons with the team, Bryant has made 98-of-188 field goal attempts (.831) and all but two of his 124 extra point attempts.
