ORLANDO, Florida -- A woman has died after being critically injured during a kickboxing match in Orlando, according to authorities.
Adrienne Simmons was knocked unconscious Sunday during a match held by the International Kick-Boxing Federation at the Marriott Orlando World Center on World Center Drive.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Simmons was struck by a left hook and the fight was stopped.
The IKF chief medical doctor treated Simmons, who was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she later died, deputies said on Monday.
According to GeorgiaFighters.com, Simmons underwent surgery for brain bleeding and swelling and went into a coma before her death.
