St. Petersburg, FL - The highlight of Day 4 at Tampa Bay Rays spring training was a Troy Percival fashion statement. The Rays' new closer sported a practice jersey with six names.
It was a response to a St. Petersburg Times article comparing the team's top three starting pitchers, Scott Kazmir, James Shields, and Matt Garza, to the trio of Steve Avery, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz when those pitchers were with the Atlanta Braves.
In other news, Rays catcher Dioner Navarro reported for spring training. He was in Venezuela tending to his mother, who had a brain aneurysm. She is expected to recover.
