New York, NY (Sports Network) - Minnesota's Maya Moore headlines the 2011 WNBA
All-Rookie Team.
Moore, just named the league's top rookie, is joined on the squad by San
Antonio's Danielle Robinson and Danielle Adams, as well as Chicago's Courtney
Vandersloot and Tulsa's Liz Cambage.
The voting panel consisted of the WNBA's 12 head coaches, who selected five
players regardless of position and could not vote for players on their own
team. Moore and Robinson each received 11 votes, Vandersloot earned 10, while
Cambage and Adams each garnered nine.
Moore topped all rookies in scoring, averaging 13.2 points, and was second
overall in rebounding at 4.6 per game and was third in assists at 2.7 per
outing. She was selected as a Western Conference All-Star starter earlier this
season, becoming the first rookie to be voted into the lineup since Sue Bird
and Tamika Catchings in 2002.
Robinson, selected sixth overall by the Silver Stars, started nine games and
played in all 34. She led all rookies in assists with 3.9 per game and
averaged 8.2 points.
Vandersloot, the third overall pick of the draft, led Chicago and ranked
second among rookies in assists at 3.7 per game and averaged 6.5 points. She
was selected as a reserve for the All-Star Game.
Adams, selected 20th overall in the draft, missed 11 games due to an injury
but finished the season averaging 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds, while Cambage
led all rookies with 4.7 rebounds per game and averaged 11.5 points for a
Tulsa squad that had the worst record in WNBA history at 3-31.
