(USA TODAY) Why watch this Sunday's MTV Movie Awards? We've got eight solid reasons why golden popcorn should find its way onto your radar.
1. Rebel's got the mike
Bridesmaidsbreakout star Rebel Wilson not only charmed audiences this past year inPitch PerfectandBachelorette, but she's also the first female host of the MTV Movie Awards since Sarah Silverman in 2007. Never one to back off a (sweetly phrased) raunchy joke, the Aussie is the perfect foil for A-list guests like Brad Pitt, who will be on hand to present Movie of the Year. "I only met him once before," an excited Wilson told Jay Leno this week. "OK, I didn't really meet him, I just stood behind him and smelled his hair."
2. Did we mention Brad Pitt?
TheWorld War Zstar hasn't made a public appearance in ages. And while there's more of a chance of an alien invasion than the star referencing his upcoming marriage to Angelina, he will be handing out golden popcorn to eitherThe Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Django Unchained, Silver Linings PlaybookorTed. (PItt's a three-time winner himself, last taking home a win for Best Fight with Jolie in 2006 forMr. and Mrs. Smith.)
3. Selena Gomezmightobliquely sing about Bieber
The newly single singer/actress wasn't too shy about making Bieber cry when she appeared on theLate Show with David Lettermanlast month. Will the almost-21-year-old reference her former love while performing her new single,Come & Get It? (For extra buzz, Kim Kardashian is glamming up her bump to introduce her.) The drama's barely in Gomez's rearview mirror; Bieber visited his ex after his disastrous London trip. We think the Movie Awards is the best place to air pop's dirty laundry.
4. Channing Tatum's got this
GoldDerby.comsays the father-to-be is "likely to win" Best Male Performance. Will we seeMagic Miketake it off one more time, or will we have to live with the GIFs MTV.com madeof him stripping? MTV is mum on the subject, which we'll take as a maybe.
5. We miss Will Ferrell
Ferrell is legitimately busy filming the follow-up toAnchorman, but he's taking a break from sweet-talking San Diego as Ron Burgundy long enough to pick up the Comedic Genius award from pal Peter Dinklage.
6. The new 'Best Shirtless Performance' category might offset the gender imbalance in MacFarlane's 'boob song'
Back in February at the Oscars, MacFarlane failed to mention the actors who have dropped trou in his base-level ode to award-winning actresses' breasts. But over at the MTV Movie Awards, male chests are up for millions to debate. "We saw your pecs" doesn'tquitehave the same ring to it, but it's a start.
7. Liam Hemsworth is bringing a sneak peek ofCatching Fire
But will he bring Miley? Jennifer Lawrence may be busy shooting a new David O. Russell movie in Boston, but she's sending reinforcements. Hemsworth will be on hand Sunday to debut a first look at the Francis Lawrence-helmed second installment ofThe Hunger Games, which isn't out until Nov. 22.
8. No one fromTwilightis nominated for 'Best Kiss'
Which means the winners might actually step up to the pursed plate this year! Indulge us with some lip action, celebs. (Emma Watson seems the most game of this bunch, so our money's on ThePerks of Being a Wallflowercouple for the win.)
