(CBS News) Here we go again...Another late-night talk show host is saying farewell with Craig Feguson leaving his "Late Late Show" post. Which of course raises the question -- who will takes his place?
Chelsea Handler recently sparked speculation about a late-night CBS move when she posted a photo holding a booklet emblazoned with the CBS eye logo, along with the caption "business meeting." Cryptic move, Chelsea. But the "Chelsea Lately" host has since cleared up that rumor she started by telling Ellen DeGeneres she'd never go to a regular network.
Still, perhaps it's time for a female late-night host? Former "SNL" stars Amy Poehler and Tina Fey both have the chops and can bring the funny. And there's also Aisha Tyler, one of the co-hosts of "The Talk." She got her TV start hosting "Talk Soup" back in 2001 and has been part of CBS' "The Talk" since 2011.
CBS could also stay within the family by shifting "The Price is Right" host Drew Carey to late nights.
When David Letterman announced he was leaving CBS' "Late Show" earlier this month, we thought about Louis C.K. as a possible replacement. After all, he did have a multiple-episode arc on his FX series, "Louie," all about auditioning to fill Letterman's shoes.
Many think Howard Stern would be too racy for late-night television, but take away the raunchiness -- and Stern is a pretty darn good interviewer.
And wouldn't it be fun to see Jerry Seinfeld crack some jokes every night? Or even Aziz Ansari or Ricky Gervais?
There's plenty of comedic and hosting talent out there -- and maybe a relatively unknown will slip into the extra-late slot. Or perhaps none at all? Networks are changing things up, so anything's fair game.
Ferguson, 51, made the announcement on Monday night during the taping of show, revealing he'll step down in December: "CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are 'consciously uncoupling,' but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much."
Tell us: Who do you think should take on "The Late Late Show"?
