Caleb Bankston, a former Survivor contestant who was set to wed a fellow contestant, died in a train wreck in Alabama, numerous media reports say. He was 26.
Bankston, a locomotive engineer/conductor at the Alabama Warrior Railway in Birmingham, was on a train that derailed on Tuesday, although it's not clear what caused the accident.
The Associated Press confirmed from the rail company that there was an accident and a worker had been killed, but his identity was not released.
But celebrity media, not to mention tweeters, were reporting Bankston was the victim. TMZ reported Bankston was crushed between two cars when the train derailed.
Bankston was a competitor last year on Survivor: Blood vs Water with fiance Colton Cumbie; they were scheduled to marry in October in Connecticut.
"Rest in Peace Caleb Bankston," tweeted a fellow contestant, Rob Cesternino.
The Hollywood Reporter said Bankston made it to day 30, or ninth place, before being voted out and becoming a member of the jury. Cumbie had quit the show earlier in the season.
Federal labor and railway agencies have been called in to investigate.
