Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Wily Peralta threw seven scoreless innings as the Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Atlanta Braves, 2-0, in the opener of a three-game series at Miller Park.
Peralta (5-8), who entered the game with a 6.08 ERA, gave up just two hits and four walks while fanning four in his outing. Jim Henderson allowed two walks in the ninth, but was able to notch his 10th save.
"He (Peralta) worked his way through it," said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke. "He's got good movement on his fastball and he threw enough sliders to make (the Braves) think. He made some really big pitches today."
Jean Segura went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and Aramis Ramirez drove in the other run for the Brewers. Norichika Aoki returned from the paternity list and went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored.
Julio Teheran (5-4) surrendered both runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings for the Braves, who lost three times in a rare five-game set against the Mets earlier this week.
Aoki and Segura hit back-to-back singles in the bottom of the first and Carlos Gomez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly to right to plate Aoki. However, Gomez was picked off at first base and Juan Francisco popped out to third to end the frame.
Segura's solo smash started the bottom of the fifth, and the Brewers pitching did the rest.
Atlanta's only two hits came in the fifth. B.J. Upton singled to lead off and Chris Johnson hit an one-out infield single to bring him to third. However, Teheran bunted into a fielder's choice to Peralta and Upton was thrown out at the plate. Andrelton Simmons then flew out to right to end the inning.
In the ninth, B.J. and Justin Upton drew walks off Henderson. However, with two outs, Dan Uggla hit a fly out to center to end the game.
Peralta and Teheran each threw 99 pitches ... The Brewers went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, while the Braves were 1-for-8 ... On Saturday, Tim Hudson will start for the Braves against Donovan Hand, who will be making his first career start.
