Lutz, Florida -- A woman was arrested Monday after her and her two teenage children were caught stealing over $250 worth of items from aLutz Walmart.
According to the arrest report, on Monday, April 9, around6 p.m., the store's loss prevention officer saw a woman, later identified as 34-year-old Alicia Llopis-DeMendoza, and her children shoplifting.
Hetold police he saw DeMendoza place several DVDs into her purse and then put the purse in her stroller. Thetwo children were also seen concealing clothes into a purse that belonged to Walmart while with DeMendoza.
DeMendozadid payfor $310 worth of items, but attempted to leave with the other concealed items worth approximately $280.
During an interview, DeMendoza told police she didn't know her teen children were stealingor that her son's shoes were not the ones he walked in with. However, when asked how the DVDs ended up in her purse she said the kids must have put them in there.
The children were turned over to their father.
DeMendoza was arrested and charged with retail theft.
