Tampa, FL - The Bucs traded up 10 spots in the 3rd round, and selected linebacker Lavonte David of Nebraska.

David is from Miami. He was considered on the small side at 6'1", 233 pounds.

But the choice was met with instant approval by ESPN analyst Jon Gruden. Draft guru Mel Kiper had David ranked in his top 25 players, and David was eventually selected 58th overall.

The Bucs gave up their 3rd and 4th round picks, to Houston, to move up to select David. The Bucs also receive a 7th round pick from Houston.

The 4th round pick that Dominik traded, was the one he acquired in the Doug Martin deal.

"I was trying to hold on to that fourth," said Mark Dominik. "I didn't want to give up a lot more, because I wanted to hold on to that fourth, maximize the use of that fourth... So we held our water... And maybe waited a little bit longer than we wanted to do... But we did that in the hopes that he (Lavonte David) would be there, and it worked out for us."
