VALRICO, Florida - An Army master sergeant stationed at MacDill Air Force Base has been arrested on child pornography charges.

On Wednesday, FBI officials took 42-year-old Thomas Meyer into custody at his house along the 2700 block of Briarpatch Drive in Valrico.

According to authorities, between April 2010 and May 2012, Meyer had sexually explicit chats with two minor females. They said one was 15-year-old and the other was an undercover detective who Meyer thought was a 13-year-old. Documents state the 15-year-old sent three nude photos to Meyer at his request, and the serviceman also discussed meeting her at a hotel so that she could perform sex acts on him.

Meyer also allegedly sent images of child and adult pornography, as well as an explicit web video of himself, to who he believed was the 13-year-old.

People who live in Meyer's neighborhood are shocked at the accusations.

"I'm upset. I have three children myself. And for me to have children and find out something like that, it's kind of scary," said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified.

If convicted, Meyer could face decades in prison.
