SARASOTA, Florida (AP) - No charges will be filed against a Sarasota sheriff's captain accused of molesting an underage girl two decades ago.

While the Florida Department of Law Enforcement couldn't find probable cause that Capt. Ronald Locke had an inappropriate relationship with a minor, the agency says the statute of limitations would make prosecution difficult.

Locke, now 45, admitted to the FDLE that he had sex with the girl when he was a 25-year-old deputy. But he said the girl said she was 18 at the time.

The report says the girl's mother told investigators that Locke got her daughter pregnant and paid her $250 to get an abortion.

Sheriff Tom Knight tells the Herald-Tribune in Sarasotathat there will be no internal affairs investigation unless the alleged victim cooperates.
