ST. CLOUD, Florida (AP) - An elderly man has been released to a St. Petersburg nursing home, two years after he confessed to the 1979 murder of a minister's wife.
An appeals court ruling last month prompted a central Florida judge to order Steve Bronson Jr. to be released from the Osceola County Jail. Bronson is a stroke victim with progressive brain damage. Police said Monday that Bronson was released to the nursing home on June 18.
The Orlando Sentinel reportsBronson was 62 when he admitted to the brutal killing of Norma Page, a 28-year-old mother of two young children.
DNA evidence was used to solve the cold case.
Bronson was deemed physically and mentally unfit to stand trial.
