Seminole, Florida - After receiving complaints about how the city was improperly displaying the American flag on its vehicles, the City of Seminole made a controversial decision by removing them. Protesters were out Sunday because of this.

The City of Seminole has stated that Seminole Fire Rescue Department employees were advised, in writing, regarding the proper way to display the American Flag on motor vehicles. They were also asked to submit a plan that would comply with the proper US code and none were received.

Due to an employee placing a flag on the fire apparatus without City approval and not in accordance with the US Code, another complaint was received. The City says they do not believe this was mounted to be disrespectful, but the flag was still removed.

According to the City of Seminole, they will continue to make every effort to display the US flag appropriately and according to code.
