VERO BEACH, Florida (AP) - Emergency crews in Indian River County are scouring through several homes that were damaged after a tornado reportedly touched down.

Sheriff's officialstell the Vero Beach Press Journal that some residents were not home at the time and no one was injured.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne confirmed the tornado touch downed Monday morning during heavy rainfall. Dozens of homes remain without power.

A flood warning is also in effect for the county until Monday afternoon.
