Guangzhou, China (Sports Network) - Two of this week's top-four seeds -- Sorana Cirstea and Urszula Radwanska -- landed in the semifinals at the $220,000 Guangzhou International tennis event.

The third-seeded Cirstea, of Romania, defeated eighth-seeded Frenchwoman Alize Cornet 6-4, 6-3, while a fourth-seeded Radwanska, of Poland, handled fifth- seeded and defending champion Chanelle Scheepers 6-1, 7-5. The South African Scheepers, seeded fifth this year, captured her maiden WTA title last year by beating Slovak Magdalena Rybarikova in the Guangzhou finale.

In Thursday's other quarterfinal action on the hardcourts at Tianhe Sports Centre, rising British left-hander Laura Robson took out seventh-seeded Chinese crowd favorite Peng Shuai 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 and Taiwan's Su-Wei Hsieh drilled France's Mathilde Johansson 6-3, 6-0. Peng was a Guangzhou runner-up in 2008.

Friday's semis will pit Cirstea against Robson and Radwanska versus Hsieh. Radwanska is the younger sister of world No. 3 and 2012 Wimbledon runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska.

The 18-year-old Robson recently enjoyed a run into fourth round at the U.S. Open, where she sent former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters into retirement with a second-round win and followed with an upset of former French Open champion Li Na of China before falling to last year's U.S. Open titlist Samantha Stosur.

The 2012 Guangzhou winner will claim a first prize of $37,000.
