Riverview, Florida --Hillsborough Fire rescue transported a 6-year-old child toSouth Bay Hospital this evening after an eastern diamondback rattlesnake reportedly bit him in his calf near his home in Riverview.

Neighbors say the boy was playing outsideon Summer Springs Drive when he ran home screaming, "I have been bit! I have been bit!"

A physician's assistant in a nearby home contacted South Bay Hospital to find out if they carried antivenin. Once confirmed, the rescue team took him to the hospital, where he was immediately administered the medicine.

The boy is being transported to Tampa General Hospital, a trauma hospital, for overnight observation, though it looks as if he will be okay.
