Clearwater Beach, Florida -- A woman who fell to her death from a 9th floor balcony earlier this month during her birthday party had been dancing when she went over the ledge, and alcohol may have been involved, police said Tuesday.

"There was no indication that this was a suicide," said public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts. "It appears to be an unintended and accidental fall."

She said that according to a preliminary investigation and based on witness statements, "the woman was dancing on the balcony and went up onto and over the ledge."

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor, but are awaiting the results of toxicology tests expected several weeks from now.

The victim, Antoinette DeJesus, 31, of Clearwater, fell to her death at the Regatta Beach Club, 880 Mandalay Avenue around 3:45 a.m. Sept. 8.
