Brooksville, Florida -- Police say a man high on marijuana attacked a man and the man's friend with a meat cleaver during an argument at his home Wednesday afternoon.
Hernando County Sheriff's deputies say 62-year-old Harold McLeroy a.k.a. "Peanut" and Michael Vamos were smoking marijuana when they got into an argument. At some point during the fight, McLeroy grabbed a meat cleaver and hit Vamos just below his left eye and again on his left cheek.
Vamos' friend, Corey Mixon, jumped in and tried to forced him out of the home in the 16000 block of Naples Street. As they were exiting the home, McLeroy hit Mixon in the back of the head with the meat cleaver.
Vamos suffered a 3-inch cut below his left eye and a one-and-half-inch cut to his left cheek. Mixon suffered a large 4-inch cut to the back of his head.
During an interview with deputies, McLeroy admitted to hitting both of them with the cleaver. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and is being held on $5,000 bond.
