Winter Haven, Florida-- Police ask for the public's assistance in locating the suspect responsible for breaking into a parked car, stealing a purse and diaper bag, and using the victim's credit card at a local convenience store.

The theft took place outside of the Verizon Wireless store off of Havendale Blvd. around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 24.

According to police, the suspect entered the store and was seen tampering with a security device on an iPhone5.

Once the suspect left the store, he reportedly took a purse and diaper bag from a car parked in the Verizon parking lot.

A short time later, the victim's credit card was used at the Circle P convenience store in Auburndale, reports say.

Police describe the suspect and his vehicle as follows:

Suspect:

  • White male
  • Thin build
  • Short dark hair
  • Approximately 6' tall
  • Wearing a white t-shirt, black knee-length shorts with a stripe down both legs and white sneakers.
  • Carrying a black backpack
  • "The suspect has a large tattoo on the inside of his left arm covering approximately from the elbow halfway to his wrist. On his right arm is a smaller tattoo on the inner forearm just below the elbow area."

Vehicle:

  • "Appeared to be a dark gray Ford Expedition with dark tinted windows, low profile tires and custom wheels. The vehicle has an extended Reese trailer hitch installed."

Anyone recognizing this suspect or the vehicle is asked to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477) or Detective Steve Rusich with the Winter Haven Police Department at 863-291-5858. Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward.
