Tampa, Florida -- ESPN College Football Analyst Chris Spielman, was the guest speaker at the Outback Bowl Kickoff Luncheon at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa on Wednesday.

Spielman spoke to a sellout crowd of Bowl Game sponsors and club members, that numbered over 700.

Spielman, who was an All-America linebacker at Ohio State, and played 10 seasons in the NFL, was asked about the recent explosion of points in college football.

"I think defenses are poorly coached and poorly executed," Spielman told 10 News. "And there's a lack of tackling, and I think that's because there's a lack of practicing of tackling, because everyone is afraid someone is going to get hurt."

Spielman's book, "That's Why I'm Here: The Chris and Stefanie Spielman Story" was released earlier this year. In it, he opens up about his wife's long battle with breast cancer. Stefanie Spielman died of the disease in 2009.
