St. Petersburg, Florida -- On Wednesday, Oct. 24, an escort is scheduled for fallen soldier Army Spc. Brittany Gordon who died Oct. 13 when enemy forces attacked her unit with an improvised explosive device (IED).

Gordon, of St. Petersburg, was assigned to the 572 Military Intelligence Company, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

She was the daughter of Assistant Chief of Police Cedric Gordon and his former wife Brenda Gordon, who was recently killed in action while serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.

Her remains will arrive at MacDill Air Force Base on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. and the honor escort is expected to leave the base around noon.

The public is also invited to a memorial service for Army Spc. Gordon that will be held in the Wireman Chapel at Eckerd College located at 4200 54th Avenue South in St. Pete on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.

A wake service will be held at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 1301 37th Street South in St. Pete on Friday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at St. MarkMissionary Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service, the interment of Army Spc. Brittany Gordon will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens at 11005 U.S. Hwy 301 North in Thonotosassa.

A repast will be held immediately after the interment at The Coliseum at 535 4th Avenue North in St. Pete.
