Tampa, Florida -- Bucs' left guard, Carl Nicks, is out for the season with a toe injury. He has been placed on injured reserve.
Nicks, who will require surgery to repair a torn plantar plate in his left toe, has started all seven games with the Buccaneers since joining the team this season as an unrestricted free agent. He played in all 71 of his teams' games since entering the league in 2008, including 68 consecutive starts.
With Nicks anchoring the offensive line, the Buccaneers have allowed the fifth-fewest sacks in the NFL, while ranking ninth in the league in points per game. Over the past three weeks, Tampa Bay leads the entire NFL in points, total yards, passing yards and yards per play and ranks third in rushing yards.
The Bucs signed Nicks to a 5-year, $47.5 million contract in the off-season.
The Bucs activated guard Roger Davis from the practice squad.
