Storm victims need us. 10 News is planning to make a difference for those whose lives were tragically disrupted by Hurricane Sandy, and we needyour help.
Together with with Mission Harvest America we're going to provide some essentials tofamilies whose homes were destroyedby Hurricane Sandy.
We're collecting supplies here at the 10 News studios, and we'll take them to the Mission Harvest America warehouse in Jacksonville. There,donated itemswill be sorted and put into "4 by 4 boxes," which feed a family of 4 for 4 days. Then the boxed supplies go to Trenton, NJ for distribution to families across the damaged areas.
If you'd like to help, just drop off something from the following list at the 10 News Studio here at 11450 Gandy Blvd. Saint Petersburg, Florida 33702 on Friday, November 2nd from6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you'd like to donate money, you may go to any Sun Trust Bank and make a deposit into Account # 1000136054813 Mission Harvest America Fund. For a tax receipt please send us a copy of the deposit receipt and a tax receipt will be mailed to you.
List of needed items:
Water - 1 liter or smaller bottles for easier transport.
Food - Canned, pop top preferred that is easy to prepare with or without heat.
Food - Dry such as rice [5 and 10 pound bags] and beans.
Disposable Charcoal grills and charcoal
Matches [in zip log bags]
Powdered Milk, Baby Formula and bottles
Pet supplies and food
First Aid Kits - Items for the kits as well
Battery Operated Radios
Flashlights and batteries
Paper Cups, Napkins, and plastic utensils
Non-Electric can openers and Utility Knives
Plastic zip lock bags
Matches in Zip Lock bags
Personal Care items such as soap, toilet paper, wipes, garbage bags, disinfectant and bleach
Clothes, especially baby and children
Blankets and sleeping bags
