(USA TODAY) Wonder where that starry couple Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel went on their honeymoon? They went on safari and "blessed the rains down in Africa," as the 1980s Toto song goes.
Africa looks to be an increasingly favorite playground and philanthropy beneficiary of celebs, such as Madonna, and royals such as Prince William and Prince Harry. Recall that William proposed to Kate Middleton in Africa in 2010, after carrying his mother Princess Diana's engagement ring around the Kenyan wilderness for days.
Still, it's rude to be nosy about where newlyweds head after the nuptials but try telling that to the paparazzi, who caught up with Justin and Jessica as they stepped off a private plane a few days after their "magical" wedding in Italy last month.
They arrived in Tanzania on the southeastern coast of Africa on Oct. 21, and later took a helicopter from Kilimanjaro International AIrport toSingita Grumeti, a private reserve in Serengeti Park. There, the couple explored the world-famous wildlife, took a hot air balloon ride and stayed at two luxurious lodges, according toUS Weekly.
The couple married Oct. 19 in a mostly private ceremony at the Borgo Egnazia resort in Puglia, Italy, before just dozens of close friends and family. After, the couple spoke toPeoplemagazine.
It was magical," Timberlake,31, said. "It was an unforgettable evening." Biel added: "It was a fantasy."
He toldHello!magazine that he serenaded his bride with a new, original song as she walked down the aisle in a custom, pink Giambattista Valli gown. "Grown men were weeping. Hopefully it's because I didn't sound bad," he joked.
Africa is a big draw for the couple: Biel, 30, climbed Kilimanjaro in January 2010 during a grueling week-long expedition to raise money and awareness of the global clean water crisis. And Timberlake is set to climb the mountain soon, too; he had to cancel the 2010 climb with Biel to do the media tour forSocial Network.
