St. Petersburg, Florida -- It's been a long road to this day, the day after Election Day, and there is no shortage of politically energized tweets and Facebook posts. There's even been some social media milestones.

At one point there was a peak of more than 320,000 tweets per minute on election night, showing Twitter is playing a larger role than ever in politics.

President Barack Obama's celebratory message had more than 455,000 re-tweets.

There's been no shortage of political posts on Facebook. Some people have even gone as far as un-friending people or hiding their posts.
